Pulmonary and nasal barrier

Pulmonar epithelium obtained from healthy, asthmatic, smokers, cystic fibrosis and cronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) volunteers. This in vitro model offers the possibility of cronic toxicity and multiple repeated doses experimentation during one year without using laboratory animals.

Possible aplications:
• Inhaled products exposure studies (solid state, liquid state, nanomaterials, etc.).
• Compounds and pharmacological formulations evaluation.
• Safety and efficacy evaluation for products directed against COPD, asthma, cystic fibrosis, etc.
• Multi-dose studies without requirement for the use of laboratory animals. Moreover, chronic toxicity and sub-acute toxicity studies can be performed (up to 6-9 months).
